Background
The School of Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS) was created in 2013 due to labour market need of scientist in the country and forms one of 8 schools of the university. The school has four departments namely; (1) Department of Mathematics and Actuarial sciences, (2) Biological Sciences, (3) Physics Department and (4) Chemistry department. The School has a student population of approximately over 3000, and has seven Ph.D. programs, ten master of science programmes, twenty-one undergraduate programs and one diploma program distributed across the four departments. The School has two Technical staff attached to Deans office
