Background

The School of Business and Economics was started as Faculty of Commerce in 1999 with one degree programme, Bachelor of Business and Management, being offered in one department. In 2001, Bachelor of Commerce degree programme was introduced alongside the Master of Business Administration and several Diploma. The School has developed over years to an extend of offering a variety of courses in Certificates, Diploma, Bachelors, Masters and PhD on Business Administration and, Tourism and Hospitality. Over the years, the School has graduated several students who have continued to contribute immensely to the Economic Development of this country and beyond. Currently, the School has four departments headed by experienced Chairs of Department (COD), namely: Department of Accounting and Finance, Department of Business Administration, Department of Management Science and, Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Further there are two coordination offices namely Coordination of Post Graduate Studies and Coordination of Industrial Attachment. Kisii University school of Business and Economics mounts market driven programmes that equip trainees for technical positions in various specialized disciplines.  These programmes are designed to prepare students for careers in industry, teaching and research at university as well as corporate managers and leaders.
